MORE THAN A CUP

Coffee has always been a reason to gather.

In Ethiopia, coffee is rarely just a drink. It is time taken slowly, stories exchanged across a table and a familiar ritual repeated from one generation to another.

Walta takes that spirit and gives it a contemporary home — morning coffee, afternoon conversations and a bar that comes alive after sunset.

THE STORY OF KALDI

A story that begins in the highlands.

One of Ethiopia's most enduring coffee stories tells of Kaldi, a goat herder who noticed his goats becoming unusually energetic after eating bright red berries from a certain tree.

The story belongs somewhere between history and legend, but its meaning has endured: coffee began as something discovered in the Ethiopian landscape before becoming one of the world's most beloved rituals.

THE RITUAL

Three rounds.
One table.

01

Abol

The first round. Strong, fragrant and traditionally offered as the beginning of conversation.

02

Tona

The second round. Lighter, warmer and often the moment when conversation settles into comfort.

03

Baraka

The final round. Traditionally associated with blessing, gratitude and the closing of the gathering.

FROM MORNING TO AFTER DARK

Come for the coffee. Stay for the evening.

Our table moves with the day — carefully prepared Ethiopian coffee in the morning, familiar café classics through the afternoon, and a quieter bar atmosphere when the sun goes down.

AFTER DARK

When the coffee house becomes a bar.

As evening arrives, Walta changes pace. Low light, slower conversations and a small drinks menu built around Ethiopian ingredients create a different side of the house.
